Commissioned by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (2024), Stories of Awe is the third and largest instalment in the Hidden Thoughts series. While the previous works explored 'hidden' inner dialogues (Do I Matter?) and undelivered letters (Return To Sender), this work turns the lens outward to the 'gorgeously impossible' moments of human connection.
Scored for Narrator, Solo Voices, and Orchestra, the work draws on anonymous survey responses to capture the elusive feeling of Awe—from the 'wild awe' of a crowd to the quiet intimacy of nature. It is not a linear narrative but a mosaic of stories, creating a 'collective effervescence' that resonates deeply with audiences.
