Commissioned by the Australia Ensemble UNSW for David Griffiths (clarinet) and Ian Munro (piano), 'Still' is a 5-minute contemporary work that demands a different kind of technical mastery: 'upside-down virtuosity.'

Written during the quietude of 2020, the piece does not rely on rapid-fire notes but rather on the courage required to hold space. It challenges the advanced player to maintain intense control, long phrasing, and vulnerability.

The composer notes: "The focus is less on virtuosic playing but rather to reflect further on what I've learned during a much quieter and more 'still' few months... creating metaphorical space within the music."

'Still' is an exceptional choice for professional recitals or tertiary assessments, particularly as a contrast to technically aggressive repertoire, allowing the performer to demonstrate profound musical maturity and breath control.
