Autumn Song was composed in 1996 for oboe and piano and is one of Katy Abbott's earliest works. Built on the melancholic, song-like voice of a single instrument, it has since been reimagined for Piano Trio (Violin, Cello and Piano).

This 4-minute work is a study in song-like phrasing and ensemble interaction. While the original captured the solitary voice of a wind soloist, this new arrangement distributes the melodic conversation between the violin and cello, supported by a resonant piano accompaniment.

It is graded at an Intermediate level (approx. Grade 5–6 / VCE / HSC), making it an accessible yet musically rewarding choice for student ensembles, wedding repertoires, or concert interludes where 'stillness' and beauty are required.
